Hats Off: Venkatesh As ‘Swamy Vivekananda’ On TV

He is one among the ‘Big 4’ of Tollywood and while the rest of them have their unique image among the audience, he has a rather versatile image and has connected with audience aging from 6 years to 80 years. He is none other than Victory Venkatesh and right now he is coming up with a path breaking venture.

Apparently, Venky is known to be a man with spiritual bent and perhaps that is one reason why he has that glow on his face, say many. Now, he has taken a big step and is putting his belief in real life into reel life. He will be making his debut into the small screen circuit in the form of India’s greatest philosopher, Swamy Vivekananda. Yes, a mega serial is currently on the anvil and this will be directed by Neelakanta, the National Award winner who came up with movies like ‘Show’ and ‘Missamma’. The serial would be focusing on the life and the doctrines of Swamy Vivekananda and it will be an interesting thing to see Venky getting into the shoes of the great man. This is indeed an appreciable move by the big star as he would be setting an example as a guide and philosopher and also as a role model for the youth since that is what Vivekananda was famous for.

The presence of Vivekananda is so strong that it tends to leave a lifelong impact if one gets a feel of his life and ideologies. As for Venky, he would become a household name not just here but also among the Pan-Indian audience as the serial would be dubbed into other languages as well. For the Telugu crowds, it was always the great N T Rama Rao as Lord Rama but on a larger canvas national wide, it was the TV star Arun Govil with his serial ‘Ramayana’ who created a stir across the nation.

With the penetration and reach that the TV circuit has got today, it is a rather wise move by Venky to connect to the household audience in this serene role. In a way, it is also a challenge that not many high caliber actors would want to take up considering the league that Venky belongs to.

Hats off to the person who came up with this idea!! The serial will be made under Venky's home banner and already the TV channels have begun making lot of hungama about this unique project. Here’s wishing Victory Venkatesh the very best of luck for his new journey and also to director Neelakanta.
