TV media builds up political fever

The electronic media is one thing which has got the power to make a mountain out of a molehill. Right now, it has kept the entire state on its toes and the reason for that happens to be the forthcoming By-polls. While the polls might play a crucial role in the Telangana movement, the TV channels have been building up the fever in such a way that this is the general assembly elections that decides the government.

They are inviting leaders from various political parties to fight against each other and cause sensation. Perhaps the channels could look at conducting a tour in the constituencies and reveal few real time problems.

Usually, the news channels must gain recognition with the quality of news and the extent of transparency they have to connect with the common man. But here is one channel that seems to be getting a lot of attention due to its newsreaders.

Well, we are talking about the TV5 channel and many viewers say that they watch this channel more for the newsreaders than the news they read. Apparently, some really hot and attractive women are providing a visual feast. That way, the attention towards what they are saying is also increasing.

Sitara TV closed!!!

The time has come for the huge horde of channels that have been struggling for existence to space out slowly.

The survival of the fittest is happening and the first victim has fallen. The Sitara TV which was part of the Asianet network, has closed its channel forever.

Sources reveal that the management has given the employees four months salary in advance and said thank you.

Reliable sources also say that few other TV channels are already in the pipeline to shutdown since they are running through severe financial crisis.

మూతపడిన ఒక ఛానల్ లైసెన్స్ తో అగ్రి గోల్డ్ వారు రంగప్రవేశం చేస్తున్నారు. ఇందుకోసం బిర్లా ప్లానిటోరియం ప్రాంగణంలో ఒక ఆఫీసు అద్దెకు తీసుకుని ఆపరేషన్ ఆరంభించారు. సిబ్బంది నియామకం కూడా ఆరంభించినట్లు సమాచారం. 'సాక్షి' ఛానల్ లో అన్నయ్య తీరు భరించలేక బైటికి వచ్చిన ఒక సీనియర్ జర్నలిస్టు ఇందులో చేరుతున్నట్లు తెలిసింది. 

విజయవాడ దగ్గర 'హాయ్..లాండ్' పేరిట ఆగ్రి గోల్డ్ ఇటీవలనే ఒక భారీ వెంచర్ దిగ్విజయంగా ఆరంభించింది. ఈ మీడియా వెంచర్ వెనుక ఎవరు ఉన్నదీ, ఉద్దేశాలు ఏమిటీ తెలియాల్సివుంది.   

మరొక పక్క జెమిని ఛానల్ వారు న్యూస్ ను మరింత పకడ్బందీగా తేవాలని నిశ్చయించారు. ఇందులో భాగంగా దాదాపు పది కోట్ల విలువ చేసే ఆధునిక పరికరాలు తెప్పించారు. కీలక పదవుల్లోకి సీనియర్లను తీసుకోవాలని భావిస్తున్నారు. 

TV-9 లో ఇన్ పుట్ ఎడిటర్ స్థానం లో ఉండి...తాజా బదిలీలలో నేషనల్ కో ఆర్డినేటర్ అయిన దినేష్ ను తీసుకోవాలని జెమిని యాజమాన్యం భావిస్తున్నది. రవి ప్రకాష్ తో తన తాజా సంబంధాల నేపథ్యంలో దినేష్ ఈ బాధ్యతను స్వీకరించవచ్చని అనుకుంటున్నారు.

హైదరాబాద్, జూన్ 13 : అద్భుతమైన కథ.. సూపర్ యాక్టింగ్... కానీ సినిమానేఫ్లాప్! తోటి నటుడు శ్రీధర్‌వర్మపై జరిగిన దాడిలో బుల్లితెర నటి డింపుల్ వ్యూహం బెడిసికొట్టింది. దీంతో ఆమె కటకటాల వెనక్కి వెళ్లాల్సి వచ్చింది. ఆమెకు సహకరించిన ఇద్దరు కూడా ఇప్పుడు ఊచలు లెక్కిస్తున్నారు. బుల్లితెర పరిశ్రమలో సంచలనం సృష్టించిన ఈ కేసు మిస్టరీని పోలీసులు నాలుగు రోజుల్లో ఛేదించారు. కూకట్‌పల్లి ఏసీపీ శరత్‌బాబు కథనం ఇలా ఉంది. ఈ నెల 8వ తేదిన టీవీ నటుడు శ్రీధర్‌వర్మపై రసాయనిక పదార్థంతో దాడి జరిగింది.


నిందితులు పారిపోయారు. శ్రీధర్‌వర్మ వెంటనే కేపీహెచ్‌బీ పోలీసులకు ఫిర్యాదు చేశారు. ఆ ఫిర్యాదులో తన అసిస్టెంట్ నాగరాజు(25)పై అనుమానం వ్యక్తం చేశారు. శ్రీధర్‌వర్మపై దాడి జరిగిన రెండోరోజు మరో టీవీ నటుడు డింపుల్ (28) కూడా తనపై దాడి జరిగిందని రాయదుర్గం పోలీసులకు ఫిర్యాదు చేసింది. షూటింగ్‌కు కారులో వెళ్తుండగా మణికొండ వద్ద గుర్తుతెలియని మహిళ రోడ్డుకు అడ్డుగా పడుకొని ఉందని, కారు ఆపి ఆమెను లేపేలోగానే ఆమె లేచి తన కళ్లలో కారం చల్లి, దాడి చేసిందని తెలిపారు.


ఆ సమయంలో డింపుల్ వెంటనే ఆమె సహాయకురాలు కూడా ఉంది. గాయపడిన డింపుల్‌ను వెంటనే ఆపోలో ఆస్పత్రిలో చేర్పించారు. తమపై దాడికి మరో టీవీ నటుడు సెల్వరాజ్ కారణమై ఉంటాడనే అనుమానాన్ని డింపుల్ వ్యక్తం చేశారు. డింపుల్, ఆమె సహాయకురాలు చెప్పే వివరాలపై పోలీసులకు అనుమానం వచ్చింది. శ్రీధర్‌వర్మపై దాడి, ఆ మర్నాడే డింపుల్‌పై దాడి... ఈ రెండు సంఘటనల వెనుక ఎవరి హస్తం ఉంది.. అసలీ సంఘటనలకు కారణమేంటన్న కోణాల్లో పోలీసులు దర్యాప్తు మొదలుపెట్టారు.


ఇద్దరి ఫిర్యాదుల్లో సెల్వరాజ్ పేరు వినిపించడంతో పోలీసులు భిన్న కోణాల్లో దర్యాప్తు ప్రారంభించారు. శ్రీధర్‌వర్మ ఫిర్యా దు ఆధారంగా నాగరాజును అదుపులోకి తీసుకున్నారు. తీగలాగితే డొంకంత కదిలింది. అసలు సూత్రధారులు డింపుల్, ఆమె అసిస్టెంట్ మణి(35) అని బయటపడింది. దీంతో వారిద్దరినీ అరెస్టు చేశారు. శ్రీధర్‌పై దాడి కేసులో నాగరాజును అదుపులోకి తీసుకున్నారు. నాగరాజుకు సహకరించిన ఆయన రూమ్మేట్ ఉదయ్ కోసం గాలిస్తున్నారు.


దాడికి కారణం ఇదీ
డింపుల్, శ్రీధర్‌వర్మ గత కొన్నేళ్లుగా ప్రేమించుకుంటున్నారు. పెళ్లి చేసుకోవాలనుకున్నారు. కానీ ఏదో ఒక కారణంతో పెళ్లి వాయిదా పడుతోంది. డింపుల్‌కు సినిమా ఆవకాశాలు వస్తున్నాయి. శ్రీధర్ పెళ్లికి అంగీకరిస్తూనే.. పెళ్లి తర్వాత పరిశ్రమకు దూరంగా ఉండాలని షరతు పెట్టారు. ఇది డింపుల్‌కు నచ్చలేదు. దీంతో వీరి మధ్య దూరం పెరిగింది. ఈ సమస్యను డింపుల్ ఓ రోజు తన తన అసిస్టెంట్ మణితో చెప్పుకొంది. దీంతో.. ఆమె తనకు తెలిసిన వ్యక్తులతో శ్రీధర్‌వర్మను బెదిరించి పెళ్లికి ఒప్పుకునేలా చేస్తానంది.


టీవీ షూటింగ్‌లలో వర్మ అసిస్టెంటుగా పనిచేసే నాగరాజును ఈ పనికి ఒప్పించింది. నాగరాజు తన స్నేహితుడు ఉదయ్(26) సహాయంతో మలేషియా టౌన్‌షిప్ వద్ద శ్రీధర్‌వర్మపై దాడి చేశాడు. అప్పుడు వర్మ నాగరాజును గుర్తించాడు. భయపడిన నాగరాజు ఈ విషయాన్ని మణితో చెప్పడంతో ఎవరికీ అనుమానం రాకుండా ఉండేందుకు మరో స్టోరీ అల్లారు.


కారులో వెళ్తుండగా మణికొండలో ఓ మహిళ తమ కళ్లలో కారం చల్లి దాడి చేసినట్లు పోలీసులకు డింపుల్, మణి ఫిర్యాదు చేశారు. అలా పోలీసులను పక్కదారి పట్టించాలని చూశారు. పోలీసు దర్యాప్తులో అసలు విషయం బయటపడింది. శ్రీధర్‌పై దాడి, రాయదుర్గం ఉదంతం వెనుక ఉన్న డింపుల్, మణి, నాగరాజులను పోలీసులు అరెస్టుచేశారు. తప్పుడు ఫిర్యాదు చేసిన డింపుల్‌పై కేసు నమోదు చేస్తామని రాయదుర్గం పోలీసులు తెలిపారు.

హైదరాబాద్‌: టీవీ సీరియల్స్ లోని ట్విస్ట్ లను ఫాలో అయి, తోటి నటుడిపై కిరాయి వ్యక్తులతో దాడి చేయించిన ఒక నటి బండారం బయటపడింది. తనపై దాడి జరిగిందంటూ మీడియా ముందు హంగామా చేసిన టీవీ నటి డింపుల్‌ను పోలీసులు ఆదివారం అరెస్టు చేశారు. తనకు కాబోయే భర్త, టీవీ నటుడు శ్రీధర్‌ వర్మపై దాడి చేయించడమే కాకుండా, తనపై దాడి జరిగిందని ఆమె పోలీసులను తప్పుదారి పట్టించినట్టు కనుగొన్నారు. దీంతో ఆమెను అదుపులోకి తీసుకున్నారు. శ్రీధర్‌ వర్మపై దాడి చేయమని డింపులే తమకు చెప్పిందని పోలీసుల అదుపులో ఉన్న ఆమె సహాయకులు నాగరాజు, మణి చెప్పడంతో బండారం బట్టబయలయింది.

మణికొండ సమీపంలో కళ్లలో కారం చల్లి, ఇనుప రాడ్‌ తో ఓ యువతి తనపై దాడి చేసిందంటూ డింపుల్‌ బుధవారం మీడియా ముందుకు వచ్చింది. 'ఆరాధన' అనే సీరియల్ ‌లో సెల్వరాజ్‌ అనే నటుడిని తొలగించి తనకు కాబోయే భర్త శ్రీధర్ ‌ను హీరోగా తీసుకోవడం వల్లనే తనపై దాడి జరిగి ఉంటుందని ఆమె అనుమానం వ్యక్తం చేసింది. శ్రీధర్‌ వర్మపై దాడి జరిగిన మరుసటి రోజే ఈ సంఘటన చోటుచేసుకోవడం గమనార్హం.

రాష్ట్ర మానవ హక్కుల సంఘం ఛైర్మన్ డాక్టర్ సభాషణ్ రెడ్డి అత్యంత కీలక నిర్ణయం తీసుకున్నారు. ప్రముఖ తెలుగు టీవీ ఛానల్ జీ తెలుగులో ప్రతివారం ప్రసారమయ్యే ఆట-5 జూనియర్స్‌పై నిషేధం విధించారు. ఇందులో ముక్కు పచ్చలారని చిన్నారులతో అసభ్య నృత్యప్రదర్శనలు చేయించడం మానవ హక్కుల ఉల్లంఘన కిందకే వస్తుందని ఆయన తేల్చి చెప్పారు. అందువల్లే వీటిపై నిషేధం విధించినట్టు తెలిపారు.

రియల్టీ షోలలో చిన్నారులను అసభ్యకరంగా చూపిస్తున్నారని ఆయన ఆవేదన వ్యక్తం చేశారు. ఇలాంటి షోల నిర్వహణకు కొన్ని మార్గదర్శకాలను రూపొందించాలన్నారు. అలాగే, టీవీలలో ప్రసారమయ్యే కొన్ని అసభ్యకర ప్రకటనలపైనా దృష్టి సారించినట్టు ఆయన తెలిపారు. రియాల్టీషోలను ప్రోత్సహిస్తున్న నిర్వాహకులపై కూడా ఆయన ఆగ్రహం వ్యక్తం చేశారు.

పురుషులకన్నా మహిళలు టీవీలు చూడటంలో ప్రథమ స్థానంలో నిలిచారని స్టేట్ ఆఫ్ ది మీడియా డెమోక్రసీ సంస్థ న్యూ ఢిల్లీలో వెల్లడించింది. తాము జరిపిన సర్వేలో 92 శాతం మహిళలు టీవీలు చూసేందుకు ఎక్కువ సమయం గడుపుతుంటారని తేలినట్లు ఆ సంస్థ తెలిపింది.ఎక్కువ సమయాన్ని ఎలా గడుపుతారని తాము దేశవ్యాప్తంగా రెండు వేలమంది పురుషులు, మహిళలపై సర్వే జరిపామని సంస్థ తెలిపింది. ఇందులో పాల్గొన్న 93 శాతం మంది మహిళామణులు టీవీలతో కాలక్షేపం జరుగుతుందని, అదే పురుషుల్లో 90 శాతం మాత్రమే టీవీలను చూసేందుకు ఇష్టపడతామని తెలిపినట్లు ఆ సంస్థ పేర్కొంది. టీవీల్లో పలు ధారావాహిక కార్యక్రమాలతోపాటు మహిళలకు సంబంధించిన పలు ప్రోగ్రాంలు వస్తుంటాయని, దీంతో తమకు టీవీయే మనోరంజకమైన సాధనమని మహిళలు పేర్కొన్నట్లు సర్వే నిర్వాహకులు తెలిపారు.తాము బెంగుళూరు, లక్నో, లుధియానా, సూరత్, ఇండోర్‌లాంటి నగరాల్లో సర్వే జరిపినట్లు సంస్థ యాజమాన్యం తెలిపింది. ఇతర ప్రసారసాధనాలకన్నా టీవీనే ఎక్కువగా ఆకర్షిస్తుంటుందని తమ సర్వేలో వెల్లడైందని, టీవీ ద్వారా అన్ని రకాల విషయాలను తెలుసుకోగలుగుతామని సర్వేలో పాల్గొన్న మహిళలు తెలిపినట్లు సంస్థ తెలిపింది.టీవీల ద్వారా దృశ్య, శ్రవణాలను ఒకేసారి వీక్షించి వినే అవకాశం కలుగుతుంది. ఇటీవలి కాలంలో దేశీయ మార్కెట్‌లో డైరెక్ట్‌- టు- హోమ్ (డీటీహెచ్) విరివిగా రావడంతో మారుమూల గ్రామాల్లోను వీటి ద్వారా వార్తలు, ఆటలు, వివిధ ధారావాహిక కార్యక్రమాలను ఇంటిల్లిపాది వీక్షించే అవకాశం కలుగుతోంది. దీంతోపాటు మనసుకు ఉల్లాసం, ఉత్సాహాన్ని నింపే పలు కార్యక్రమాలు ప్రసారమవుతుండటంతో తాము టీవీలను ఎక్కువగా చూస్తుంటామని మహిళలు తెలిపినట్లు ఆ సంస్థ వివరించింది.మనసును రంజింపజేసేందుకు మొదటి స్థానంలో టీవీ నిలవగా రెండవ స్థానంలో వార్తాపత్రికలు నిలిచాయని ఆ సంస్థ తెలిపింది. పశ్చిమ దేశాల్లో నేటికీ ఉదయం నిద్ర లేవగానే టీతోపాటు వార్తాపత్రికను చదవడం ఇష్టపడతారు. 26 సంవత్సరాల వయసుపైబడినవారిలో వార్తాపత్రికలను చదివేందుకు ఉత్సుకత చూసిస్తున్నట్లు తమ సర్వేలో తేలిందని ఆ సంస్థ తెలిపింది.

TV actress Dimple arrested for attack on ex-lover Sridhar Verma

Hyderabad, June 13 (IANS) Hyderabad Police Sunday arrested television artist Dimple for the recent attack on her fiance Sridhar Verma after he allegedly refused to marry her following a love affair.

Police said the 23-year-old was not only behind the attack on Sridhar but also stage-managed an attack on herself to mislead the police. Her assistant Mani and Nagaraju were also arrested while another accused Prabhakar is at large.

A case of attempt to murder was booked against Dimple and three others at Kukatpally police station.

Dimple, who acted in TV serials for various channels, had claimed June 9 that she along with her assistant Mani came under attack by an unidentified woman when they were on their way for shooting in Manikonda on the city outskirts.

Dimple, who along with her assistant got themselves admitted in a corporate hospital, told police and media that a woman lying across the road blocked their way. When they got down to find out what the matter was, she attacked them with chilli powder and iron rod. She claimed that the attacker used a sharp object and showed the gashes on her body.

The actress also claimed that the attacker kept repeating that she was taking revenge and disappeared. She pointed fingers at another TV artist Selvaraj who was blamed for a similar attack on Sridhar June 8 at Kukatpally neighbourhood in the city.

Sridhar had complained to police that an unidentified attacker threw acid on him but police found that it was only spirit. Sridhar later received a phone call purportedly made by Selvaraj saying it was revenge for replacing him in TV serial 'Aradhana'.

After thorough investigations, police found that Dimple hatched a conspiracy with Mani and two others to take revenge on Sridhar for refusing to marry her after an affair. She used the name Selvaraj and also orchestrated an attack on herself to mislead the police.

Actor Selvaraj told reporters that he would file a defamation case against Dimple.

హైదరాబాద్, జూన్ 12: ఎట్టకేలకు 'ఆట'కట్టయింది. రియాల్టీ షోలలోని క్రూయల్టీకి చెక్ పడింది. పిల్లల జీవితాలతో ఆటలొద్దని హక్కుల కమిషన్ స్పష్టం చేసింది. అసభ్య ప్రకటనలపైనా ఉక్కుపాదం మోపింది. తీవ్ర వివాదాస్పదమైన 'ఆట' రియాల్టీ షోపై రాష్ట్ర మానవ హక్కుల కమిషన్ శనివారం చరిత్రాత్మక తీర్పును వెలువరించింది.

ఆట-5 పేరిట జీ-తెలుగు చానల్‌లో ప్రసారమవుతున్న రియాల్టీ షోపై నిషేధం విధించింది. ఆయా కార్యక్రమాల విరామ సమయంలో ప్రసారమవుతున్న అసభ్య ప్రకటనలనూ నిలిపి వేయాలని నగర పోలీసు కమిషనర్‌కు ఆదేశాలు జారీ చేసింది.

ఈ నిషేధాజ్ఞలను తక్షణమే అమలు చేయాలని స్పష్టం చేసింది. కమిషన్ ఆదేశాలపై తీసుకున్న చర్యలను సోమవారం ఉదయం 10.30 గంటలకు వివరించాలని ఆయనను ఆదేశించింది. జీ-తెలుగు చానల్‌లో ప్రసారమవుతున్న ఆట-5 రియాల్టీ షోపై మానవ హక్కుల కమిషన్‌కు ఫిర్యాదులు వెల్లువెత్తిన సంగతి తెలిసిందే.

ఆట-5 రియాల్టీ షోను స్వయంగా వీక్షించిన తర్వాతే ఈ తీర్పు చెబుతున్నట్టు కమిషన్ చైర్మన్ జస్టిస్ బి.సుభాషణ్‌రెడ్డి తెలిపారు. పిల్లల హక్కులను హరించేలా ఇటువంటి రియాల్టీ షోలు ఏ చానల్‌లో ప్రసారమైనా వాటిపై నిషేధం అమలు చేయాల్సిందేనన్నారు. ఈ నిషేధం జాతీయ చానళ్లలో ప్రసారమవుతున్న రియాల్టీ షోలకూ వర్తిస్తుందని, వాటి ప్రసారాలను రాష్ట్రంలో నిలిపివేయాలని స్పష్టం చేశారు.

వీటిని ప్రసారం చేయడం.. బాలల హక్కుల కోసం రాజ్యాంగంలో పొందుపరచిన 39(ఇ),(ఎఫ్), 45, 46 ఆర్టికల్స్‌ను పూర్తిగా దుర్వినియోగం చేయడమేనని తేల్చి చెప్పారు. ఇటువంటి ప్రసారాలు కేబుల్ టెలివిజన్ రెగ్యులేటింగ్ యాక్టు, జువైనల్ జస్టిస్ యాక్టు-2000, యంగ్ పర్సన్స్ (హార్మ్‌ఫుల్ పబ్లికేషన్స్) యాక్టు-1956లకు విరుద్ధమని స్పష్టం చేశారు.

కేబుల్ టీవీ రెగ్యులేటింగ్ యాక్ట్‌లోని సెక్షన్ 19, 20 ప్రకారం జుగుప్సాకర ప్రసారాలను నిలిపివేసే అధికారం పోలీసు కమిషనర్‌కు ఉంటుందన్నారు. గంటపాటు ప్రసారమయ్యే ఈ రియాల్టీ షో వెనక కఠోర శ్రమ ఉంటుందని, అందుకు పిల్లలు ప్రతిరోజూ గంటల తరబడి రిహార్సల్స్ చేయడం, పరిమితికి మించిన మ్యూజికల్ సౌండ్స్, హై వోల్టేజీ లైట్ల ముందు ఉండడం వారి ఆరోగ్యంపై ప్రభావం చూపుతుందని స్పష్టం చేశారు.

14 ఏళ్లలోపు చిన్నారులు బడిలో ఉండాలని, వారి వారి స్థాయులను బట్టి తల్లిదండ్రులు తమ పిల్లలను బడుల్లో చేర్పించాలని సూచించారు. లేకపోతే.. కొత్తగా అమల్లోకి వచ్చిన చట్టం ప్రకారం ప్రభుత్వమే వారిని పాఠశాలల్లో చేర్చాల్సి ఉంటుందన్నారు. అసభ్యకర రియాల్టీ షోలపై నిషేధం విధించినంత మాత్రాన కళలకు, కళాకారులకు కమిషన్ వ్యతిరేకం కాదని స్పష్టం చేశారు.

ఫిర్యాదులు వచ్చిన రియాల్టీ షోపైనే ప్రస్తుతానికి నిషేధం విధిస్తున్నామని, మిగిలిన చానళ్లలో వస్తున్న షోలపై జూలై 3న ఉదయం 11 గంటలకు ప్రజాభిప్రాయ సేకరణ చేపడతామని, ఆరోజు ప్రేక్షకులు, కార్యక్రమాల నిర్మాతలు, కళాకారులు, కొరియోగ్రాఫర్లు, సంబంధిత టీవీ చానళ్ల ఉద్యోగులు అభిప్రాయాలను వెల్లడించవచ్చంటూ విచారణను అదే రోజుకు వాయిదా వేశారు.

Reality check: AATA banned for 'indecency'

HYDERABAD: The AP State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) on Saturday directed the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad to ban transmission of AATA-5, a reality show, on a local channel for violating children’s rights.

SHRC chairperson Justice B Subhashan Reddy, at a press conference here, said Aata was banned under the Cable TV Network (Regulation) Act in the interests of the people.

“The Commissioner is also directed to see to it that similar programmes or indecent advertisements being telecast on any other TV channels are banned,” he said.

The SHRC ordered the police commissioner to submit a complaince report on June 14. The police were also directed to bring to the SHRC’s notice any reality shows that are offensive in nature and attract action under the provisions of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act 1886. Justice Subhashan Reddy said a public hearing will be conducted on July 3 to evolve norms so that censorship of television programmes can be enforced like it is done in the case of movies.

He said the SHRC judgment was pronounced after hearing arguments of all the parties involved in AATA.

Justice Subhashan Reddy took a dig at the way anchors of AATA conducted themselves on the show. “I have personally seen AATA on several occasions. I take strong objection to the way girls were tossed in the air and the manner in which they were hugged. He also expressed his concern at the fact that most of the children, who had been participating in these reality shows, were not given proper access to education, play and rest which are the fundamental rights of children as per the United Nation norms. Kids’ reality show banned in Andhra

HYDERABAD, JUNE 12

Andhra Pradesh Human Rights Commission today banned with immediate effect telecast of ‘ata five (play-5 series)’, the child reality show telecast by ZEE TV, saying such shows violated the rights of children.

In its direction, Commission Chairman, Justice B Subhashan Reddy directed Hyderabad City Police Commissioner A K Khan to also look into similar reality shows on other entertainment and news television channels and take appropriate action to prohibit such telecast which were ‘’indecent and obscene and violated the inalienable right of the child.’’

The Commission asked the Hyderabad City Police Commissioner to report by June 14 the action taken report and the status of such reality shows on the television.

The Commission also fixed July 3 for public hearing and would issue notices to the print and electronic media for a wider discussion before taking further action.

Justice Reddy said Human Rights activists and NGOs involved in child welfare too would also participate in the public hearing.

The Commission, Justice Reddy said was also looking into obscene advertisements and cited few of them during the Indian Premier League Cricket Tourney and the World Cup T-20 Cricket Championship.

Hyderabad, June 12: The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) on Saturday asked the city police commissioner to prohibit the telecast of the TV reality show, Aata, saying it violated child rights.

It has also called for a public hearing on July 3 to debate and fix specific norms for entertainment programmes.

The SHRC observed that the programme grossly abused the Constitutional rights of children provided under Articles 39(e) (vocations unsuited to age), (f) (protection of children against exploitation), Article 45 (no child below 14 years shall be engaged in hazardous employment) and Article 46 (protection from social injustice and exploitation).

Justice B. Subhashan Reddy, the SHRC chairman, said he had watched several episodes of the reality show and felt that children were subjected to vulgar comparisons, were made to feel depressed and forced to weep.

“Children have to prepare for long hours under harsh lights and high decibels of sound,” he said. “It is a clear violation of the child’s right to play and rest.”

The SHRC, responding to four petitions and counter arguments including those from the parents of the five participants, also noted violations of the Young Persons (harmful publications) Act, and Juvenile Justice Act.

It further stated that every child has right to participate in cultural events that were decent, but reality shows do not fall within the said limits and are liable to be prohibited.

Reality Shows for Children Banned by Human Rights in Andhra

Television reality shows have finally been prohibited by the Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission. ‘Aata’, a dance reality show on Zee Telugu channel, had been for long facing a petition filed by some NGOs. The Commission at last pronounced its verdict with urgent effect and directed the police to take action against such shows on other channels.

As children in such channels were being portrayed in an “objectionable manner”, which was violation of human rights, Commission Chairman Justice Subhashan Reddy said that the panel, therefore, felt a need to check such shows.

Such shows were leaving a bad effect on the health of the children and were creating several problems.

"These children don't even know what they are doing and how they are being used. The physical and psychological growth of children continue till 18 years of age and such reality shows are having bad effect on their growth”, he said.

The Commission's decision came on a slew of appeals filed in April by a group functioning for children's rights. They wanted a ban on reality shows for making children act upon obscene numbers.

The police have also been directed by the Commission to take strict action against obscene advertisements and programmes on television channels. The Commission has also called for framing of various guidelines for the TV programmes, particularly the reality shows.

The channels have been allowed to submit their arguments against the ban and a public hearing will be conducted on July 3.

The Commission had asked a delegation of six parents in April if they felt uncomfortable with the way their children had been dressed up for the show. The parents had then opposed the petitions for banning the reality show.

‘No more obscene dances by girls and women will be allowed'

HYDERABAD: The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has banned reality shows featuring dances and gestures bordering on obscenity by girl children and even women on TV channels.

In an order on Saturday, SHRC Chairman B. Subhashan Reddy has asked City Police Commissioner of Hyderabad to prohibit transmission of reality show by one Telugu channel and also similar shows by any other channel. The Commissioner who is the authorised officer to see proper implementation of Cable Network Act of 1995 was asked to invoke provisions of Indecent Presentation of Women Act wherever violations of the order came to notice. The order would also apply to advertisements like the one that depicted a vulgar scene during the Indian Premier League matches on TV, Justice Reddy told The Hindu.

The reality shows had triggered a controversy recently with some parents complaining to the SHRC that they had a bad effect on young minds. Children started imitating the scenes, it was averred. On the other hand, parents of participating children informed SHRC that the shows promoted talent and helped build career.

After thoroughly studying both points of view and examining whether SHRC had jurisdiction on the issue, the commission came to the conclusion that engaging children for the shows amounted to human rights violation. The shows were not a creative and cultural activity, Justice Reddy said. He observed that the shows would not promote talent because personality development, including mental growth, was restricted in human beings up to the age of eighteen.

Open hearing

Justice Reddy asked the Commissioner to file compliance report of the order on Monday and directed representatives of all TV channels and print media to appear in an open hearing to frame guidelines on transmission of programmes on July 3.

Attack On Small Tube Actress Dimple

Personal animosity was cited as the reason for the attack on TV artiste Dimple. She was ambushed by a woman at Manikonda today with an iron rod. The lady even smeared chilli powder on her face before leaving the scene. Dimple was immediately moved to the Apollo Hospital where her condition is said to be stable.

Dimple is currently working in a TV serial named Thurpu Padamara being aired on ETV and was on her way to the shooting spot when the incident occurred.

Our Telugu film heroes are making interesting choice of films, and now it is Pawan Kalyan’s turn. Pawan Kalyan has surprised everyone by accepting to do an important role in a film that is being made on the life of Jesus Christ.

The film is being directed by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, and its specialty is that the entire film will have only child actors. Producer Konda Krishnam Raju said, “Our film will be made with international standards, and will have only children playing the lead roles. Pawan Kallyan, however has an important role. We are planning to make the film in Hindi and English too. Prominent actors will play the role Pawan Kalyan is playing in Telugu.”

Christien Tinsley, who won an oscar for his exceptional makeup for the film ‘Passion of the Christ” will take up the make up responsibility of the film. Sekhar V Joseph will direct the cinematography department.

The presence of Vivekananda is so strong that it tends to leave a lifelong impact if one gets a feel of his life and ideologies. For the Telugu crowds, it was always the great N T Rama Rao as Lord Rama but on a larger canvas national wide, it was the TV star Arun Govil with his serial ‘Ramayana’ who created a stir across the nation.

With the penetration and reach that the TV circuit has got today, it is a rather wise move by Venky to connect to the household audience in this serene role. In a way, it is also a challenge that not many high caliber actors would want to take up considering the league that Venky belongs to.

June 4: Vedam Review: The movie Vedam goes arround Cable Raju (Allu Arjun), Saroja (Anushka), Vivek Chakravarty (Manchu Manoj) and few other characters. In the movie Allu arjun plays the character Cable Raju who is a cable operator who lives in Jubilee Hills slum. Anushka plays the character Saroja who is a prostitute in Amalapuram. Manchu Manoj plays the character Vivek Chakravarty who wants to become a super star.

The other important characters in the movie are Ramulu and Rahim (Raheemuddin).Ramulu, an old man has a dream of educating his grandson and coming out of debts. Manoj Bajpai plays the character Raheemuddin. Rahim, a Muslim man who is distressed.His wife suffers a miscarriage. Police suspects Rahim to be a terrorist and makes his life miserable troubling him all the time.The man is upset with his past and wants to leave the country.

All the five characters starts their journey for success and to make their dream come true. If that happens so easily why its called a movie. The trouble starts when they start the journey to fullfil their dreams. Saroja faces problem when she wants to start her own company in hyderabad. She gets trapped by her previous owner. Ramulu faces problem because his money stolen in the city.

Rahim who dreams to fly abroad, he goes for a visa and police troubles him there as well. The other two major character Vivek and Raju one entangles in a street fight and the other into theft.

Now all of them in a quest for life begin their journey and are beset with problems at the same time. Rahim is questioned by the police while he goes for his Visa, Saroja is trapped by her previous employers, Vivek is entangled in a road fight, Raju gives into the temptation of theft and Ramulu’s money in the city is stolen.

Overall the movie is really good. The other characters played by Raghu Babu, Brahmanandam, Satyam rajesh and Posani leave their mark. Music by Keeravani is Good. Last but not least Krish direction is Very Good. The narration of the characters in Vedam is outstanding. Hats off to Krish.

Story

vedam Story 1: Chakravarthy (Manoj Manchu) is an aspiring rock star. His mother wants him to serve army just like his deceased father. Chakravarthy wants to follow his heart to become a rock star. He starts from Bangalore to Hyderabad to give his first live performance.

Story 2: Ramulu (Nagayya) is a weaver from Sirisilla. His grandson is a bright student. Ramulu owes 50000 rupees to a financier and the financier takes Ramulu's son as a daily labour. Ramulu desperately needs money to get his kid back and put him in school. He finds a way of procuring the money and visits Hyderabad along with his daughter-in-law for that purpose.

Story 3: Saroja (Anushka) is a prostitute in Amalapuram. She works for a brothel company and she gets a cut of 20% as the pimp takes away rest of it. Her dream is to go to Hyderabad and start her own brothel company. She dupes her employer and flees to Hyderabad overnight with her hijda assistant.

Story 4: Raheemulla Khureshi (Manoj Bajpai) gets discrimnated in Hyderabad for being a muslim and he wants to leave for Dubai to make a living out there. He gets his visa and was about to fly to Dubai from Hyderabad. But his past catches up with him.

Story 5: Cable Raju (Allu Arjun) is a cable operator in the slums of film nagar. He gets hold of a rich girlfriend (Deeksha Seth). He dupes her saying that he is rich kid and spends lot of money on her. She asks him to take her to New Year party eve for which the entry ticket costs rs. 40000 per couple. He is in search of that money.

Artists Performance

vedam When certain directors make movie, they make sure that each and every character is impactful and well-etched. Krish is one of those very few directors in Telugu cinema. Allu Arjun comes up with an awesome performance as cable Raju who pretends as a rich guy to his girlfriend. His performance in realization scenes towards climax is his best in his career. He has also entertained as a brat. Manoj Manchu comes up with another honest performance as an aspiring rock star. His performance in the hospital scenes and the scene with his mother is excellent. He performed the live action in the scene where he breaks the glass of car. Anushka titillates as the prostitute Amalapuram Saroja. She oozed sexiness and effused the vulnerability/innocence needed for the character. Nagayya is authentic for a first-timer. However, a better dubbing would have helped his character as his voice is little feminine. Manoj Bajpai comes up with power-packed performance as a righteous Muslim who is troubled by the cop. Deeksha Seth is sexy with nice smile and dimples. She has done well. The voice dubbed to her is excellent and that voice suited the Telugu we hear from the upmarket Hyderabad girls. Lekha Washingon is good as a companion of Manoj Manchu. Satyam Rajesh is excellent as side kick of hero. The person who has done the hijra role is the personal makeup man of Anushka and that person did an excellent job. Ravi Prakash comes up with his finest performance as a cop who hates Muslims. Brahmanandam is entertaining in a small role. Raghu Babu, Pruthvi and Posani Krishna Murali are entertaining in their brief roles. Giri is good in the noticeable character of a pimp. Director Krish who appeared in Che Guevara get-up as a naxalite in Gamyam appears again in Vedam as an entertaining Baba.

Technical departments

vedamStory - screenplay - direction: It is a multiple story film where all the stories converge into the climax of the movie. It is extremely difficult task to narrate five different stories in one film in a gripping style. Krish who is just one film old comes up with terrific work in his second movie. He connected all the stories with brilliant screenplay. Each and every character in this movie has human element in it. Screenplay of the movie is authentic though similar pattern is being followed since Ameros Perros (2000) and was popularized by the Oscar winning Crash (2004) movie. Krish has shown how he sticks to the core human elements without losing the undercurrent commercial elements with his debut film Gamyam. He maintains the same philosophy in this multi-storied film as well. First half of the movie looks little disjointed because, the director has to establish and narrate five different stories. He connects all the stories well and gave a gripping narration in the second half. He would have started the movie with the accident episode (pre-climax scene). If he had started the movie with that (like he did for Gamyam movie), then the audiences would have got connected to the first half more intently. He probably avoided it because there will be a direct comparison with Crash movie. The transformation of characters from having selfish goal to do selfless service might appear similar to crash where all positive characters turn negative and vice versa. The climax scene reminds us of 26/11 Mumbai episode.

vedamOther departments: Music by Keeravani is good. Songs are nicely integrated into story line except for Allu Arjun’s party song. Background music is very good and very apt for the movie. Dialogues by Krish are an asset for the movie. He penned entertaining dialogues and humanity-oriented ones extremely well. Cinematography of the film is of top-notch quality. Action sequences by Ram – Lakshman are well-choreographed. Editing by Sravan is excellent. Art direction by Rajeev Nair is nice. Producers Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni should be appreciated for producing sensible/coming-of-age film like Vedam (more so because they come from the family of K Raghavendra Rao who is known for commercial cinema).

vedamAnalysis: First half of the movie gets interesting towards the interval. Second half is good. It is a big experiment to do such a sensible movie with commercial actors like Allu Arjun, Manoj Manchu and Anushka. Three of these actors should be complimented for coming forward to act in this movie. Such big names help in taking this movie into masses. Vedam also shows the finest taste of producers. The success of Vedam will propel sensible producers to encourage new subjects and different screenplays in Telugu film industry. Krish proves himself with Vedam that he is a director who can take Telugu sensible films beyond regional borders. This film will be liked by classes and A center audiences. If masses and B/C centers patronages Vedam, it will not only do good to the film, but to the entire Telugu film industry. On a whole, Vedam is a good film. Please watch it and encourage good/meaningful cinema.

vedamDisclaimer: I got a lot of criticism for my 4 rating for Ye Maya Chesave in the past as it was not lapped up by all kinds of audiences. That’s because the visitors expect the movie to be a huge commercial hit when it’s rated above 3.5. I would like to declare here that Vedam is not an entertainment oriented film. It is a film on humanity and is narrated in new format. And there are under-current commercial elements. I loved this movie and it doesn’t mean that it will be liked the same way by everybody else. If you are purely an entertainment seeker, you may seek other sources of feedback without solely relaying in my review.

The talented and intellectual director Krish who gave us ‘Gamyam’ has arrived with yet another venture and this time on a larger scale.

Cable Raju (Allu Arjun) is in love with a rich girl (Deeksha) and he pretends to be a rich guy though he is from a slum and is a cable operator, Vivek (Manoj) wants to become a rockstar while his mother wants him to get into army, Saroja (Anushka) is a prostitute who decides to escape to Hyderabad for better business, Raheem (Manoj Bajpai) is a victim of misunderstanding as a terrorist, Nagaiah (Ramulu) is a victim of poverty and decides to donate his daughter in law’s kidney for the grandson’s education. What fate has in store for each form the rest of the story.

Allu Arjun has come up with a decent act and his role was a mix of comedy and seriousness. The character was etched very well and it is a message oriented one.

Manchu Manoj does hit bit with ease and though he plays a subdued character, he makes his presence felt. One fails to understand why his title credit has been given as ‘Guest appearance’ while he has done a full length role.

Anushka looks seductive and sensuous. However, it doesn’t live up to the hype that has been created. It is a different role for her and she did justice to it.

Manoj Bajpai is a powerhouse of talent but it must be said that his skills were hardly utilized.

Ramulu was at ease in front of the camera and he made it look real.

Deeksha was luscious and appealing, Lekha was brief, Saranya was standard, Raghu Babu was regular, Satyam Rajesh gave few smiles. The actor doing the cop’s role was effective while the actor who did the role of ‘Karpuram’ made his presence felt.

Guest appearances of Brahmanandam, Posani and Krish are meaningful.

Good things about ‘Vedam’:

There is a message for ambitious youth if they wish to take..

* 'Never aim at something very far and do mischief to attain that. Listen to your conscience if you are doing wrong that time' (Allu Arjun- Nagayya episode)

* ‘Never assume that there are many people to help those are in needy, and you are not one among them. You too may need help and you may find a true helper from the man who you troubled’ (Sardarjee-Manoj episode)

* ‘Never brand anyone with religion’ (Manoj Bajpai-inspector episode)

* ‘Look at sex workers with different perspective. After all, prostitution is the oldest profession which is still continuing in every part of the world’ (Anushka-Karpooram episode)

* ‘Look at the poorest of the poor in the society those are getting their basic needs by selling their body parts’ (Nagayya episode)

Analysis:

The film arrives with a lot of expectations given the names associated with it. But, this is not a formula movie that entertains everyone. This movie is for sensible audiences who can melt their hearts for sensitive aspects of society.

It is basically a narration of various characters with different backdrops and challenges in life. While the depiction of that aspect is good, it is always essential to develop content on that. The makers have come up with a good attempt to portray the elements of good and evil.

Dialogues were impressive at few places, background score was impact creating and songs are also good both for eyes and ears. The real show stealer was the cinematography. Script was okay.

The storyline is routine but the difference is there are multiple characters and how they are brought together is the variety. While the first half and second half are engaging and different tracks are handled well, the climax loses momentum and gets a bit dragging. Someone with a caliber of Krish could have portrayed a different backdrop for it. On a whole, Krish proved to be a director with material in him.

The key is for the audience to connect to any one of the characters and that didn’t happen here. Overall, the film can be credited for the attempt to give a realistic outlook on life and the choices individuals make at a particular moment. Still, it could have been much impact creating if content was deep.

On a whole, the movie brings tears in a couple of scenes and Allu Arjun excelled in them. Manchu Manoj was stated to be in guest appearance, but he has a full length role. The message is ulterior but it is a sincere movie with idealistic idea portraying darker side of 5 lives.

Bottom Line: Except climax rest is heart touching

Story:

A tale of five different people from different walks of life – a cable guy Raju (allu arjun) living in a slum and pretending to be a rich guy to impress the wealthy girl Pooja (deeksha), an aspiring rockstar Vivek (manoj) who believes in himself, a prostitute Saroja (anushka) who comes to Hyderabad hoping to get better clients and more money, a righteous Muslim Raheem (manoj bajpai) who becomes a victim of fate and gets branded as a terrorist, a struggling weaver Nagaiah (ramulu) who gives away his kidney and also decides to give his daughter in law’s (saranya) only to educate his grandson. How all of them come to one place and what happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Artist performances:

Allu Arjun was impressive with his act and he got a good role this time with lot of depth and appeal. Manchu Manoj played a decent act and he made his presence felt. Anushka looks hot and not much for her in terms of performance. Manoj Bajpai was not used to the fullest, Ramulu was convincing, Deeksha looks juicy and seductive, Lekha was okay, Brahmi was brief, Raghu Babu was regular, Satyam Rajesh was alright, Saranya was effective, Seiya was apt. Even the artistes who did the role of the cop and 'Karpuram' contributed very well.

Plus points:

Minus points:

* weak storyline

* pace

Analysis:

The film is basically an insight into the lives of various characters and how they make their decisions depending on the situations. While the etching of the characters was good, not enough depth was given to them. Except for the track of Allu Arjun, others could not hold the audience attention. Overall, the film is a good attempt and gives a positive feel but then there were flaws in screenplay, narration which muffled the impact. Having multiple tracks and getting them into one junction is a challenge but Krish has managed it to an extent. However, it could have caused an intense impact if he had given that strength to their screen presence.

Verdict: Attempt to show human character, can be watched once for sure
