Maa Television Network Ltd is gearing up to launch two new channels – Maa Junior for kids and Maa Movies. These new channels will be launched by the end of December this year or early January 2011. Maa Television Network currently has in its stable Telugu entertainment channel Maa TV and music channel Maa Music.
Speaking on the development, Sharrath Marar, Director & CEO, Maa Television Network Ltd, said, “We are looking at launching the two channels soon, but would like to talk in detail about those closer to the launch date.”
He, however, did add, “We do see an opportunity in the Telugu kids’ entertainment genre. There are not many players in this space and majority are international players. Maa Junior will have a mix of indigenous content and dubbed international shows. For Maa Movies, traditionally we have had an impressive catalogue of movies and we will leverage those for our movie channel, besides creating new line-up.”
