Even as Maa Television Network is gearing to launch new channels, it has lost its Director and CEO Sharrath Marar, who has put in his papers, according to sources close to the development. It is not known where Marar is headed next. He has been with Maa Television Network for close to four years. When contacted, Marar declined to comment.
Marar has earlier been associated with Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Ltd (ABCL), where he was GM - South. He later started his company called South Parade, which had played a key role in some of the big brand endorsements down South. In January 2007, he joined Maa Television Network Ltd.
As reported by exchange4media earlier, Maa Television Network is on the brink of launching two new channels – Maa Junior and Maa Movies. The network already has its flagship channel Maa TV and Maa Music. In the short span since the launch of Maa TV in 2002, the channel s said to have become a formidable player in the Telugu GEC market.
In the year 2008, the channel had revamped its logo to bring a fresh perspective, and since then has been able to revamp its programming and managed to attract young talent to the company. This helped to change the perception of the channel, resulting in maintaining financial balance and garnering increased channel viewership.
