Chiru Plans Entry Into Media Biz

After N Chandrababu Naidu, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and K Chandrasekhara Rao, it is now the turn of Praja Rajyam Party president K Chiranjeevi to enter the media business.

According to reports in the political circles, Chiranjeevi is contemplating launch of his own media venture – to start with a television news channel, followed by a newspaper. Reliable sources said Chiru has bought over a defunct media channel called “RK News” and is planning to reactivate into a full-fledged channel.

For those who are not from the media circles, RK News was a cable network channel started by one Ramakanth Vajpayee, brother of Deepti Vajpayee, the famous and energetic anchor of TV9 channel. It was like Siti Cable of the earlier days with very less or negligible viewers. Subsequently, it was bought over by popular food product manufacturer and real estate company Agri Gold but it has not seen the light of the day.

Now, Chiranjeevi wants to take over the channel and convert it into a full-fledged satellite channel. At present, he is believed to have a nominal stake in Maa TV and now with a news channel in the hand, he wants to promote himself and his almost-defunct political party.
