Maa TV launches 2 new channels

MUMBAI: Hyderabad-based Telugu TV network Maa TV Network has launched a movie and a kids channel today.

Maa Movies and Maa Junior started beaming from 7 pm onwards.

With this launch, Maa TV Network now has four channels under its umbrella. It already operates Telugu general entertainment channel Maa TV and music channel Maa Music.
Maa TV Network chairman N Prasad said, “Maa TV’s vision is to attain the status of a true and preferred entertainment channel network for Telugu diaspora worldwide by delivering pleasant and wholesome entertainment. The launch of two new channels is a major step towards this objective.”

The network has also roped in Tollywood actor Ram Charan as a director on the board.

"Charan is a fine blend of star attraction, action, dance skills and mass fan following. As an icon reflecting the aspirations and mindset of the new generation audience in the Telugu entertainment world, Charan will add value to the Maa brand, besides contributing his innovative thoughts on entertainment programming,” Prasad added.

Maa Movies will leverage the strength of the movie library that Maa TV has built over the years. The channel will offer film and film-based content to viewers throughout the day.

The company said it has done extensive market analysis for its kids’ channel, Maa Junior, to differentiate it from the rest of the channels in this genre.

“Considering the void in the kids channel segment, Maa TV has developed a wide variety of interesting and innovative concepts. A lot of programmes relevant to the children education and edutainment are planned for Maa Junior,” the company said.

Maa Junior will focus on Indian ethos, culture and value system with emphasis on local form and connect. It will air programmes aimed at both pre-school and school segments, with a focus on rural, urban and semi-urban segments in Andhra Pradesh.
